Our Hope

We are so glad you stopped by Homemade Happiness!

How this blog came to be...
One night, my husband and I {Rach} sat down for our nightly couple study, and as we were reading,
the following paragraph really made an impression on me:

Home should be a happy place because all work to keep it that way. It is said that
happiness is homemade, and we should endeavor to make our homes happy and pleasant places for us and our children. A happy home is one centered around the teachings of the gospel. This takes constant, careful effort by all concerned.
 ( Ensign, Nov. 1990, 12)

Happiness is homemade.  For the next few days, this phrase kept running through my mind.  It is so simple, but SO profound and SO true!  Shortly after that night, this blog was born!

Enter Erin {my former college roommate and one of my best friends!} who had also been pondering how to cultivate happiness – in her life and in her home.  She had committed to the idea that “happiness doesn’t come from what’s on the outside of us but what’s on the inside.(Boyd K. Packer)
Happiness is not something we can purchase, subscribe to, or collect. Happiness is something we must recognize. Something we must create.
Happiness is homemade.

We believe that the most important work we will ever do it in our own homes.  The world may seem to fall apart around us, but we can create a safe haven in our own homes where each family member feels safe and loved.  We believe that "the strength of a nation lies in the homes of its people." (Abraham Lincoln)  We also believe that family is forever.  :)

Through this blog, we hope to share with you some simple ideas that we use in OUR families to create happiness in our home and in our lives.  Our ideas and thoughts are not profound, and most are extremely simple, but we hope that we can somehow, with your help, bring families together.

We are excited to share with you, and we would love to hear from you, too!
Feel free to ask questions, suggest topics or share your thoughts with us!

Thanks for stopping by!
